Up for sale is vintage Chinese Black Lacquer & Brass Jewelry Chest, with Soap Stone & Mother of Pearl inlays. This piece has only had 1 owner, my wife. My wife's father had a business in Hong Kong. This piece was purchased for her during one of her visits in 1967, when she was 7 years old. Considering that a child was the original owner it is in remarkably good shape! This chest is 10 inches tall,14 inches across, 9 inches deep, & weighs nearly 12 pounds! The chest has 3 pull out drawer hidden behind 2 swinging door. The top is hinged, & opens up to provide additional storage. All 3 drawers, & the top compartment are lined with crushed red velvet. The outer chest has brass hardware. There is no real significant damage or missing pieces. There are some dings, scuffs, scratches, small lacquer chips, etc. The lacquer looks dull, & has some staining. It displays well, but it is not without its flaws..... Keep in mind it was owned by a 7 year old ( who took good care of her things, but a child none the less! ) & it is 50 years old. The last picture points out the most obvious damages. Please study pictures carefully for a better idea of this pieces condition.
