Obadiah E. Davis
, the candidate for Sheriff on the Republican ticket, was born at Navesink, Monmouth County, November 2

, 1850. He served as Mayor of Red Bank and one of the leading contractors and builders of Monmouth County. Davis learned the planing mill business with Davis & Cooper, of which his father was a member. After becoming proficient, be was made foreman of the concern. In this capacity he continued until 1871, when be engaged in the business in Red Bank. He operated a planing mill in 1880.
Davis is regarded as a safe and conservative businessman. His methods are the man. They are sound and trustworthy and won for him his substantial honors in the world of trade and politics. He is a director of the Navesink Bank of Red Bank.
As a Republican, Davis is staunch and true. With the capacity for marshalling the forces at his command, Davis is a strong help to his party In this county.
As mayor of Red Bank, he has displayed marked intelligence and wisdom In municipal affairs. But ever broadening, Davis dues not confine himself to local politics. He branches out and is posted on all important affairs in the political world of his native state.
As a sheriff, Davis will bring with him Into the office the experiences of maturity, and a sterling public-spirited man.
