    Description

These two hand-carved rock crystals by the artist Richard K. Wentz depict the artist’s interpretation of famous works by Frederic Remington. “The Cheyenne” is an action portrait of a brave on horseback, created by Remington in 1901. “The Bronco Buster” depicts the cowboy’s duties in taming a wild horse that was created in 1895 by Remington.
Richard Wentz was born outside Philadelphia in 1914 and was educated at Georgia Tech where he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. His crystal carvings, which were available only by commission, have been done for the White House, Cartier, Baccarat, the President of Indonesia, the Royal Thames Yacht Club, and the United States Olympic Committee, among other clients. Each piece is hand-carved in Val St. Lambert crystal, the best available in the world, and is signed with an etched “Wentz” on the bottom. They are intricately carved with full sculptural detail (three dimensional), and make beautiful table top ornaments and/or paperweights.
I purchased this set from the Collectors’ Guild Ltd. of New York in 1979 and have owned them since. The crystals are in excellent condition, having seen some display in our home years ago, but kept in their boxes for over 30 years now. The crystal set comes in their original boxes along with an authentication card from the Collectors’ Guild and the original announcement of the set from the Collectors’ Guild. I pay for the shipping and insurance.
