    Description

    EUROPEAN STERLING SILVER ETROG BOX.
An etrog (esrog, ethrog) box is a container for the important citron, or lemon fruit, significant in the observance of the worship of Judaism. This is stated to be a rare, Sterling silver etrog container, originating in European Germany, late 19th - early 20th century, Judaica. Realistically chased and embossed in the form of an etrog fruit with, I understand, the words in Hebrew, 'U'Lakahtem Lachem Pri Ez Hadar' ('and thou shalt take for yourselves the beautiful fruit of the tree'). Set on four ball shaped supports. It is in very good condition for age and closes firmly. Marked sterling 825  see image.
    Length 7 ins (17.75cm), Circumference 12.5 ins (31.75cm). Weight 372 grams.
